How We Work Together

Somatic Psychotherapy
nervous-system.jpg
Somatic psychotherapy is a body-based, trauma-informed approach that integrates talk therapy with awareness of your physiological and nervous system experience.

The focus is on helping your system build safety and capacity over time, so that the nervous system is supported and change becomes sustainable—not overwhelming.

Meet The Therapist

Rachael Martin LPCC, MA Somatic Psychotherapy

I was a parentified, codependent child who grew into a high-achieving, anxious adult—moving fast, over-functioning, and trying to hold everything together until I burned out.

What followed was depression, confusion, and a deep sense of disconnection from myself and my sense of worth.

Like many of the clients I now work with, I tried to think my way out of it.

I leaned on insight, structure, productivity, and perfectionism—appearing functional on the outside while internally my system felt overwhelmed and exhausted.

Over time, I began to realize this wasn’t just stress.

It was a whole-system pattern—held in the nervous system and the body.

Chronic tension, shallow breathing, digestive imbalance, disrupted sleep, fluctuating energy, and a persistent sense of disconnection were all part of how my system had adapted to survive.

My body asked me to slow down.

To stop overriding.
To listen.

Through somatic work and nervous system regulation practices, I began to understand how to actually respond to those signals—rather than push through them.

That shift changed everything.

I began rebuilding a sense of internal safety and trust in my own system.

As that shifted, so did my external life—more grounded self-worth, clearer direction, steadier energy, and more ease in relationships.

This is the foundation of my work.

I support adults who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, burnout, chronic stress, perfectionism, or relational overwhelm.

Many also experience these patterns alongside physical symptoms such as fatigue, sleep disruption, digestive issues, low energy, or a sense of being out of rhythm in their body and life.

In our work together we focus on:

  • understanding stress and nervous system patterns

  • building regulation and capacity in the body

  • reconnecting with internal cues and emotional needs

  • supporting energy, sleep, and daily rhythm

  • shifting long-standing survival patterns that no longer serve you

This work is not about forcing change through willpower.

It is about building safety, capacity, and internal alignment so that change becomes something your system can actually sustain.

If you are feeling burnt out, disconnected, depleted, or like you’ve tried everything and still feel stuck—this work may be a fit.
